Welcome to week two, day eight of our 21 day fast. Prayerfully we are all making strides in our pursuit of God and His will for our lives for 2018. Prayerfully we have now come into a place where we are hearing God more clearly and beginning to experience His presence like never before. I myself am having dreams for the first time in a very long time and they are not “pizza dreams” but real vivid dreams. God is speaking to me and pursuing me even as I pursue Him. It is a wonderful place to be and one that I desire to be in at every place in my life, not just when I am fasting and praying.
For the last week we have been concentrating on God’s presence, power, provision, purpose, plan, past victories and our need for purity. Today I am asking you to meditate on God’s love for us and on Jesus as our Loving Savior.
First and foremost, God loves you. That is made apparent by the words we read in John 3:16. God loves you so much that He sent His own Son to this earth in order that you might believe in Him. In 1 John chapter 4 we see the love of God.
7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another…16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.19 We love him, because he first loved us…
The evidence is clear, God is love. Paul says it like this “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:37-39).
That is amazing news! Nothing, nothing can separate you from the love of God. He is love and He loves you. There is nothing that you can do to make Him love you more and there is nothing that you have done that will make Him love you less. He just loves you. Let that sink in today and every day that you wake up. God loves you and nothing can ever change that.
Now focus on Jesus as a loving savior. God loves you so much that He sent Jesus to pay the price for your sins. Jesus loves you so much that he took on the cross and death and defeated them on your behalf. Romans 5:8 says “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us”. Jesus laid down His life so that we could be reconciled back to God. In His death we have life.
Paul states the importance of this decision by Jesus to lay down His life for us. I just stated Romans 5:8 but let’s look in context at this section.
Romans 5:7-11 says 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. 10 For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. 11 And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.
Paul says that most people would not die for a righteous man. He says maybe someone would think about dying for a good man. However we were considered enemies of God and Jesus still died for us. We were not righteous or good but enemies of God. While we were yet sinners, enemies of God Jesus died for us. Do you see the powerful love Paul is trying to explain here? If that is not love, perfect love then I do not know what is.
Know today that God loves you even in while you were far away from Him he still sent Jesus to pay for your sins and bring you back to Him. Jesus loves you so much that while you were in sin (enemies of God Paul says) Jesus accepted the cross and paid the price. Jesus loved you so much that He even sent Holy Spirit to be with us after He ascended to heaven. Holy Spirit loves you so much that He is will to guide you, speak to you and through you, convict you and lead you to repentance.
You are loved today and every day. Take time today to just meditate on this awesome, wonderful earth shaking love the Father has for you. Do not give place to the enemy who will try to tell you that you are too messed up or have strayed too far. Do not let the enemy bring you to a place where you question God’s love. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. The Bible is full of the demonstration of God’s love for you. When the enemy tries to tell you otherwise you can as Jesus said, “it is written John 3:16. It is written Romans 5:8. It is written Romans 8:37-39. It is written 1 John 4:7-19”. The word of God is true and it is your weapon of choice to fight those spiritual battles.
Let Jesus love on you today and just sit at His feet and receive His love today. YOU ARE LOVED!!!!!!
Blessings to Each of You,
