I pray that each of you are doing well. We are moving right along on this 21 day fast and each day seems to bring with it victories and challenges for many of us. Let me encourage you to continue in this fast and do not give up or quit. God always has and always will honor anything we do that puts Him front and center of our lives. May God grant you peace, strength, willpower, endurance to continue and finish strong.
Today is day number 9 of our 21 days. Yesterday we focused on God’s love and Jesus as a loving Savior. Today I want you to focus on Jesus as the Life Giver. John 14:6 Jesus says “I am the way, the truth and the life.” He is the way to eternal life, He is the only truth and He is the one who gives life. In Him we have life. Jesus says in John10:10 “10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” The enemy wants to steal your joy, your peace and your freedom. The enemy desires to kill your relationships, marriage, family ties, your desire and fire of the Holy Spirit within you. The enemy wants to destroy your life both physically and spiritually (often one affects the other). There is good news however because Jesus says the enemy wants to harm you and destroy you but I come that you my have life and not just any old life but life more abundantly.
I don’t know about you today, but I desire the abundant life. I do not want to live out a meager existence in this world or just scrape by or just exist. Too often however, I find myself doing just that. I desire abundance in every area of my life and Jesus is the only one who can give me that. When I find myself living out a meager existence I hit the reset button and realize that I have been running after the abundance instead of the one who gives the abundance. So my drive has to be not for abundant finances or abundant work or abundant gifts or talents etc. My desire must be for the one who gives the abundance. It all goes back to Matthew 6:33 as I seek first God’s kingdom then the abundance happens. It’s the adage of “seeking the giver not the gifts.”
Paul says it life this in Romans 8:11 “11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” That is a powerful statement. First the Spirit of God (which raised Jesus from the dead) lives in each of us who have made Jesus our Savior and Lord. Many times, we do not live like the Spirit of God lives within us because we often pass over that statement. We don’t see it or feel the Spirit of God therefore we disregard that statement and I believe we live defeated lives because of it. Do not let that statement pass you by. Think on that for a moment. Let it sink in, really sink in. We have the power to overcome anything the enemy throws at us already living inside us. We do not need to ask for it, beg for it etc. We just need to use it and stand up to the enemy in Jesus name through the Power of Holy Spirit.
Jesus is the life giver because He gave us Holy Spirit to live within us and Holy Spirit is the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead that Paul is talking about. How amazing is that?
Let me challenge you today as you are praying and fasting to ask God to renew your spirit today and give you a fresh vision of who you are in Christ and of the power He has given you through Holy Spirit to break down walls, tear off shackles and rip through barriers that have kept you or someone you know bound for so long.
Jesus, I thank you that you are the life giver and that you don’t give anything half-way. You said you give abundant life. Jesus, I pray for everyone who is reading this that you would begin to show them what your abundant life looks like and begin to lead them and guide them into all truth. May today be a breakthrough day for all who are fasting and praying for breakthrough and all those who desire to live abundantly in you. Amen
Blessings to Each of You,
